On February 26, a remote workshop was held for 6th graders at Soshin Elementary School in Yokohama.
It has been a long time since the Kanagawa Industrial Technology Research Institute (KISTEC) held a workshop at the school in December 2021! (KISTEC) in December 2021, it had been a long time since we last visited the school for a workshop.
Last time, we visited the school with a set of equipment (including a laptop PC) and materials for the workshop in our own car, along with our own cart, and conducted a workshop using the PICO Cricket. This time, we sent the workshop equipment and materials in a little box in advance and conducted the workshop remotely using the students’ iPads.
Compared to the previous toy-making workshops, which used computers and programs to make toys, this workshop required a more limited amount of materials, but the children showed their ingenuity in making their creations with limited materials. This was another example of the ingenuity of the children in creating works with limited materials. We will continue to consider what kind of materials we should prepare to reduce the burden on the local teachers and at the same time allow the children to make a variety of personally meaningful products that they themselves want to make.
We would like to thank the teachers of Sushin Elementary School for giving us this precious opportunity and for their support on the day of the remote class, as well as the students who enjoyed creating their artwork with all their seriousness and enthusiasm.
